Senior Analyst/Programmer
URMC Center for Nursing Professional Development, March, 2012 - June, 2013
Created a new site used for documentation submission of 90+ files to an external review agency during Magnet re-designation process. Evaluated public front-facing and intranet web sites, identified points of contact, and updated content through close collaboration with users and team members. Sought feedback on how to optimize content organization in ways that improved self-service.
Key Contributions:
- Drove improvements to the content management system focused on enhanced features and user experience.
- Teamed with the nursing team to create site content, and removed outdated content and materials from both internal and external nursing sites.
- Trained numerous personnel on content management tools including SharePoint and Umbraco to enable future site updates.
- Drafted documentation and help documents used to build a comprehensive knowledge base.
Accomplishments:
My main focus was to build a web site to be used for submitting over 90 documents for a re-designation of Magnet status in Nursing. This included following specific guidelines for site structure, working with the Nursing team to create site content, and ensuring that all documents we labeled correctly and downloaded properly. Once complete, I presented the site at several staff meetings.
While working on the re-designation site, I found that both the internal and external Nursing sites contained outdated content and materials. As these would also be reviewed during the re-designation process, I worked with Associate Directors and unit managers to update and organize their sites. I then trained key personnel in the features of the Content Management tools (SharePoint and Umbraco) in order to maintain the sites going forward.
